The Code of Technical Standard for Veterinary Medicine is the set of norms, principles, ideas, methods, and practices aimed to achieve a level of quality in the profession. The legal mandate of this Code is based on Republic Act 9268 and Republic Act 8981. In the veterinary medicine profession, there are two primordial missions: 1) to ensure public health and health of animals and 2) to ensure the continuous supply of food of animal origin. And in the fulfillment of theses missions, all veterinarians should adhere to five core values, namely: 1) Competence, 2) Accountability, 3) Professionalism, 4) Ethics, and 5) Commitment. The fields of practice of veterinary medicine are diverse but are currently differentiated according to Type of Animals and Discipline. Because of this diversity, other fields may be added and defined in the future.
